the APPLICATION

The SUMMER SHOW project only accepts applications online.

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Deadline for submission is October 25, 2009.  The cost of submission is $40 by October 1 and $50 by October 25.  A good incentive to apply early.

We ask that you have 3 images you are ready to apply with.  Each must be no wider than 1000 pixels or no more than 700 pixels in height.  Resolution must be 72 dpi.  Our only suggestion is to choose three images that show some consistency while staying true to the type of work you are most interested in.  At this point, the work will not be chosen based on theme or style.  Whether you consider yourself a journalist or a still life photographer, it just doesn't matter.

You will also be asked to submit a statement about your work in 100 words or less.  That's right, 100 words.  A caption or title that summarizes the work would be a good way to start off. 

Please do not contact the judges directly in any fashion.  This is a blind jury.  The curators will not be aware of the names attached to the entries during review.  At the conclusion of the selection process, all curators will then be given the names of the photographers who submitted work so that they might follow up with them directly.

Michael Foley is not on the selection committee and has chosen to stay on the sidelines until the selection process is complete.  At that point, he will communicate with the curatorial panel and help them in selecting a theme.

We do not recommend you try to fit your submission into what you might think the judges are looking for.  We have purposefully assembled a panel with a wide variety of tastes and disciplines. 

So, submit what is true for you, regardless of who will be viewing it.

The cost of submission is $40.00 if you apply by October 1 and $50 afterwards.  Applications will only be accepted until October 25.  When you click the link below, you will be taken directly to a Google Checkout and be able to submit funds safely and securely.

Once you make payment, you will have until October 25th to submit your three images and statement.  It is important to register with us immediately following payment.  Follow the link, "click below to retrieve your purchase" in the yellow box from the Google Checkout back to the site.  This will take you to the "Application Guidelines page."  From there, add your personal information.  Once you register, you will set up an account and create a unique password.  This will allow you to continue the application process at any time.

The 12 photographers that are selected will be posted on the home page November 30, 2009.
