the STUDENT PROJECT
The SUMMER SHOW project only accepts applications online.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Deadline for submission is April 1, 2010. The cost of submission is $20.
The application for the Student project is open to currently enrolled undergraduate students only. The theme for the Summer Show Project 2010 is Summer Stage. Please read the e-mail below that was sent to the participants of The Summer Show Project:
"So many of you are interested in space. Some filled with the presence of people, some with their absence. Some of you created your own scene, others came upon them. In many of them, there was an absence, a hint of someone there or a remnant left by someone, implying someones presence.
I felt many to be cinematic, but not necessarily narrative. Each seemed to be a stage, a performance or a pending one. Perhaps one just finished."
We ask that you have 3 images you are ready to apply with. Each must be no wider than 1000 pixels or no more than 700 pixels in height. Resolution must be 72 dpi. Our only suggestion is to choose three images that stay true to the theme. At this point, the work will not be chosen based on style. Whether you consider yourself a journalist or a still life photographer, it just doesn't matter.
You will also be asked to submit a statement about your work and how it reflects this year's theme, Summer Stage, in 100 words or less. That's right, 100 words. A caption or title that summarizes the work would be a good way to start off.
The judges will be Michael Foley and Sasha Wolf. Please do not contact the judges directly in any fashion. This is a blind jury. They will not be aware of the names attached to the entries during review.
The cost of submission is $20.00. Applications will only be accepted until April 1. When you click the link below, you will be taken directly to a Google Checkout and be able to submit funds safely and securely.
Once you make payment, you will have until April 1 to submit your three images and statement. It is important to register with us immediately following payment. Follow the link, "click below to retrieve your purchase" in the yellow box from the Google Checkout back to the site. This will take you to the "Application Guidelines page." From there, add your personal information. Once you register, you will set up an account and create a unique password. This will allow you to continue the application process at any time.
The 8 photographers that are selected will be posted on the home page April 15th.
Each photographer will be responsible for delivery of their work to the gallery. Your work must arrive "ready to hang." Although we will not provide framing services, we can provide guidance in this area.
Each of the 8 selected photographers will have the opportunity to submit one photograph to the summer exhibition. The size of each will be limited to 20 x 24 inches (paper size).
At the close of the exhibition all work must be picked up at the gallery or other transportation must be arranged for the safe return of your work if it remains unsold. All work will be insured once it has arrived at the gallery.
All of the work curated in the exhibition must be available for purchase. In the event of a sale, the artist will receive 60% of the sale price.
I look forward to working with you on the first annual Student Project!
